Out From The Fire And Into A New Home!
Out From The Fire And Into A New Home!
Tommy escaped homelessness when he found HVAF and moved
into Manchester Apartments last summer. Unfortunately,
Tommy’s time in there was cut short when the devastating fire
broke out.
During the chaos of that night, Tommy’s first concern was for his
fellow residents. As smoke filled the halls, Tommy took action,
rallying a few of the other residents to start helping.
Tommy and the others wasted no time and began knocking on
doors to alert residents of the fire, helping to ensure everyone
made it out safely.
Luckily, every veteran was safe and accounted for and were
relocated to local hotels. Unfortunately, most of them lost
everything, including Tommy. Thankfully, YOU and the
community stepped up to support their basic needs and housing
goals!
Tommy wasn’t in the hotel long before moving into his very own
apartment. He was the FIRST veteran to leave the hotels and
attain permanent housing. Donations to the Fire Assistance Fund
helped the Marine veteran with moving costs, rental application
fees, and temporary rental assistance.
Today, with YOUR generous support, Tommy is proudly settled into his new apartment with a fully
stocked fridge and closet full of clothes.
Thanks to you, Tommy is thriving.
